3 Different Paths to get you on the right track!
On the road to your Digital Transformation, communication is key. The average success rate of a digital workplace project is a meagre 10%. How can this be so low? And what measures can we take to improve this? In most cases, the reason for this low success rate is down to poor managerial processes and almost non-existent change management, which lies under the false pretext that using the tools is easy as we already use them in our daily lives. This is a mistake. No matter how easy the tools are, we need to bring them to life.
So how do we do this? We drive change through three different paths.
1. We communicate!
From the very start to the very end of the project, and the whole way through, you should communicate and give to the employees the best practices to use the new solutions. We select a network of ambassadors and we give them all the resources they need so they can bring this project to life. We also need to give them the freedom to break out of the conventional company moulds so they can create, stimulate, communicate and get this project off the ground. For example, map existing tools and use cases, challenge them and be truly inspired in your choice of the best new solution: 80% of employees admit that they are using an IT solution without the agreement of their IT Department!
2. People power can never be underestimated
The average success rate of a digital workplace project is just 10% (Gartner, 2016). While on the one hand, you have your ambassadors encouraging new users, on the other, you have the new users themselves. Don’t be afraid to mix generations together when bringing about change – for younger users, this kind of technology might come more easily to them, and we can see that this can have a collective positive effect on older users. Mobilising assistants can also be a great way to promote new uses, ensuring that those at director level start adopting new practises also.
3. Animate and measure adoption with identified Key Success Factors
Make sure there’s space for extra-professional uses on your new tools. You want to encourage people to use the tools, so make room and allow for the “water cooler” element of your new technology also!
